What is Udyam ?

In India, many small-scale businesses or companies are not registered under the government, due to which they have failed to get the benefits rendered by the MSME ministry. For giving benefits or relaxations to small-scale enterprises, the government of India introduced the Udyam portal, which is issued by the Ministry of MSME. This ministry has been established under the MSME Act 2006. This registration is also said to be the MSME/Udyog Aadhar, it is a government registration where you’ll certified with a udyam certificate along with a unique udyam portal number (URN) for the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME).

The main objectives of Udyam portal are to support Indian small businesses and facilitate business transactions. It was introduced to replace the earlier registration method called Udyog Aadhar registration.

Benefits of udyam portal:

Udyam is a process introduced by the Indian government to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs). It offers several advantages to businesses. Here are some of the key benefits:

Recognition and credibility:

Once your business is registered under Udyam, it is recognized as a micro, small, or medium enterprise. This recognition can increase your credibility with customers, suppliers, and financial institutions.

✔ Access to government subsidy programs: Businesses registered with Udyam can avail of various government programs, subsidies, and incentives. These programs are designed to provide financial assistance, skill development, and technology upgrades to promote business growth and success.

✔ Easy access to finance: Udyam portal simplifies the process of obtaining loans and credit from banks and financial institutions. Lenders often give preference to registered companies due to their government-sponsored status, making it easier to access funds for expansion or working capital.

✔ Priority in public procurement: Government agencies give preference to Udyam-registered companies in their procurement processes. This preference can open up new opportunities for contracts and projects with government agencies, increasing business revenues.

✔ Reduced interest rates: Some financial institutions offer lower interest rates on loans to Udyam-registered companies. These preferential rates help reduce the cost of borrowing, making it more affordable for businesses to invest in growth initiatives.

✔ Exemption from certain taxes and duties: Businesses registered with Udyam can be exempted from various taxes and duties such as GST (Goods and Services Tax) and customs duty. These exemptions reduce the tax burden on businesses and improve their profitability.

✔ Facilitated dispute resolution: Udyam portal provides access to the arbitration and dispute resolution mechanisms set up by the government. In case of disputes or complaints related to payments or contracts, companies can seek a solution through these channels and thus avoid lengthy court proceedings.

✔ Promotion and marketing support: The government promotes Udyam-registered businesses through various initiatives and platforms. This can help reach new customers and markets, thereby expanding the reach of the business and increasing sales opportunities.

Udyam portal offers a range of benefits that can contribute to the growth and success of small and medium-sized enterprises. From financial support to improved market access, it offers valuable opportunities for businesses to compete in today's marketplace.
